The NHAI has instructed contractors and concessionaires to make drone video recordings in the presence of the Oversight Consultant.

The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) on Wednesday ordered the use of drones for monthly video recordings of all national highway projects during their various stages of development, construction, operation and maintenance.

The NHAI has instructed contractors and concessionaires to make drone video recordings in the presence of the Monitoring Consultant and upload current month and previous month comparative data to the NHAI 'Data Lake' portal, reviewing all related developments within be fixed for a month. . 

Supervisory consultants will analyze these video recordings and provide their input/feedback in digital monthly progress reports on various aspects of project development.

“NHAI project managers will conduct a drone survey monthly from the contract signing date to the start of project construction on site and also after project completion. Also, NHAI will conduct monthly research with drones in all developed projects where NHAI is responsible for operation and maintenance,” the Ministry of Road and Highway Traffic said in a press release.

In addition, the mandatory use of a Network Vehicle Inspection (NSV) for carrying out a road inspection on national roads will improve the overall quality of the roads because NSV uses the latest inspection techniques such as a digital camera. imaging, road laser profile meter and other state-of-the-art technology for measuring road surface wear.
